I recently went to have my coil refitted. 5 years ago I phoned Barnstaple Sexual Health services and was informed that I had a 10 copper coil fitted. When I attended this time the doctor stated that I had conflicting notes, with one entry stating I had a 5 copper coil fitted and another note stating I had a 10 year copper coil fitted.
When the doctor removed my coil they confirmed a 5 year copper coil had been inserted. This means I had been 5 years at risk of pregnancy without adequate contraceptive cover.
The doctor was very professional and I have concerns with the appointment, but very concerned about the wrong information I was given 5 years ago.
