My partner fainted at work whilst 34 weeks pregnant and hit her head hard enough to leave a gash on her face. She was found unconscious by one of her colleagues. When she came round, we phoned maternity triage to check that everything was alright with the baby, however, they stated that they were very busy and advised that we phoned our midwife instead. We managed to be seen by a midwife at Stirling Community Hospital who went out of her way to see us, she could not have been more helpful and offered us lots of reassurance.
Also, at approximately 18 weeks, my partner phoned maternity triage as she was suffering from abdominal pain and was concerned for the welfare of our baby. Again, they stated that they were very busy. A urine sample test was offered but they stated it may take hours and it would be best to just monitor symptoms over the weekend. Due to a previous miscarriage we were particularly anxious about the abdominal pain and ended up paying for a private scan.
We have been told throughout pregnancy that if we were experiencing any concerns, we should phone maternity triage, however, on two separate occasions that we have phoned, we have felt that they have given us the cold shoulder and as though our concerns aren't important enough to be seen. This is extremely disappointing.
The midwifes at Stirling Community Hospital have been fantastic. They always do their best to make you feel comfortable and heard, always going above and beyond to help in whichever way they can.
