"I knew my son was in safe hands"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Day surgery Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Imaging (Xrays and Scans)

(as a parent/guardian),

We got to ward 1B and were seen quite quickly. We were ushered into a private sensory room , which was ideal for my disabled son . His wheelchair fit inside and still there was plenty of room. The sensory lights and the low mattresses really settled my son down.

We met with the anaesthetist, radiographer and nurses. Everyone was very kind and helpful. The MRI itself took a bit longer than planned but I got paged when he was done.

When he came round , he was offered a snack and once he had finished , I called the nurses to see about getting discharged .

The staff are all very kind and helpful. we had a pleasant experience and although I was nervous, I knew my son was in safe hands.

Hi nitratedj67

Thanks so much for taking your time to leave feedback regarding your recent visit to day surgery. The addition of the sensory room has only been within the last year and your comments are greatly received. I am so happy that you found the area a benefit to your stay and that the lightening and low mattress helped to reduce the stress of being in hospital. I do hope he is now recovered well at home.

Although we only have one sensory room, please do not hesitate to enquire if it is free on any future visits.

Thanks again,

Suzanne Pearson
