"Amazing Experience"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Maternity care Maternity care / 2 West Maternity Maternity care / Delivery suite Maternity care / Maternity Admission/Assessment Unit Maternity care / Maternity and Gynaecology outpatient clinics

(as a service user),

I had all of my care in Craigavon from start to finish.

The midwives were lovely in the antenatal clinic during my booking appointment and scans. They were always happy to listen to me and answered any questions I had.
I attended the assessment unit twice during my pregnancy for reduced movements. I believe it was Eimear and Niamh I seen during those visits. They were both lovely and very reassuring despite it being extremely busy and clearly very stressful.
I was admitted for induction which was a long process. The midwives looking after me were lovely (sorry I can't remember their names). They were very welcoming and shown me around the induction bay and delivery suite which eased my nerves.
Although the staff were lovely, it was unfortunate when I was going for a walk I seen who I believe to be a senior staff member speaking very abruptly and speaking down to another member of staff. It was unfortunate to witness this as all the staff have been lovely and are doing their very best in a highly stressful and busy environment.
I ended up needing an emergency c section and  have to say the whole team were amazing! The midwife Laura, surgeon, doctors, anaesthetist, they were all brilliant and explained every step to me and my husband. We were very grateful for this and can't thank you all enough!
My experience was also great when I got moved to 2 West. All of the girls there were run off their feet but still managed to take time with me and my baby and to help while I wasn't mobile during the first few hours after my c section.
I want to give a special thanks to Charlene and Louise who were looking after me during my days in 2 West. They were both lovely, introduced themselves to me, helped me with breastfeeding and kept on top of my pain relief!! They were being pulled in all directions by other mums and other staff but nothing was too much to ask! Thank you!
I had Natasha looking after us both nights and she was amazing! We really struggled the first night to get baby to stay on my breast to feed, she took time with us and tried a few positions and ways to get baby to latch. We found a position that worked and baby fed like a dream. I honestly believe that without her spending the time with us, our breastfeeding journey would have been a lot more difficult! Natasha was lovely, bubbly and down to earth which made me feel at ease. Nothing was a problem for her! Thank you so much Natasha!
I have to say, the care I received from the start of my pregnancy to the end was nothing short of incredible. I want to thank everyone involved in my care. You are all doing an incredible job! Thank you!

Dear capricornusqr47,

Firstly, congratulations on the birth of your baby, and thank you for taking the time to feedback to us on your experiences.

I am delighted to read that you had such a positive experience on the postnatal ward, and that the care from Louise, Charlene and Natasha made such a positive difference. I will share this feedback with them as I know they will be delighted with your lovely feedback.

Many thanks, Rachel Gibson

Ward manager, 2West
