"Amazing care and encouragement"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Gynaecology (Ward 32)

(as a service user),

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy last week, and felt very well supported from the moment I walked in. Everyone without exception was incredibly kind, and were full of encouragement about my progress.

There are such obvious pressures on staffing, and problems with infrastructure as well as the building itself,  but nothing was too much trouble, even though they were very very busy with both planned and emergency procedures. It made what could have been a horrific experience into one where I felt in control, and have come home feeling positive about my recovery. Thanks to all.

Dear ComposersPA7,Warmest regards,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience so soon after your surgery. I’m delighted to hear you felt well supported from the moment you arrived, and that the team’s kindness and encouragement helped you feel in control throughout your stay. That is exactly the standard we work towards every day.

I’m especially grateful that, despite the very real pressures you noticed around staffing and the building, you still felt nothing was too much trouble. I will share your feedback with colleagues across the ward, theatres and recovery—your words will mean a great deal to everyone involved in your care and will give the team a real boost.

We continue to work hard on improving both our environment and how we organise care so patients feel safe, listened to and supported. Knowing that you’ve gone home feeling positive about your recovery is incredibly encouraging for us.

Wishing you a smooth and steady recovery.

Nikki
