"Disappointing appointment"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

I’d been waiting for a gynae appt for just over 4 months due to suspected endometriosis showing on an ultrasound, and a history of increasing pain episodes as well as other symptoms.

The staff member I saw did answer my questions, but seemed like they wanted to get me in and out of the room as quickly as possible.

They didn’t really listen to what I had to say and when I asked them to ensure all my symptoms were noted, they just stared at me and didn’t write anything down.

They also checked their phone a couple of times during my appt. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt - maybe there was an emergency. But it just made me feel like they didn’t care at all about the patient in front of them.

I read the letter that they sent to my GP on the NHS app, they got key aspects of what I said wrong. They wrote that my pain is unrelated to my cycle. This is a key defining feature of endometriosis, and I’m so upset and worried that because this has been noted down incorrectly, that it will stop me getting the diagnosis and treatment that I need.

When I described what the pain I experience feels like, they also recorded this incorrectly too.

I’m left feeling really disappointed.
