"Endometriosis Care & Support"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Endometriosis Service Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Gynaecology (Ward 49)

(as the patient),

I recently received surgery for stage four endometriosis. I was treated via the Endometriosis Centre and spent two nights in Ward 49 of the Queen Elizabeth.

The care and treatment I received from each person I came across was absolutely exemplary. All of the staff could not do enough for me and were encouraging and gentle in their approach.

Although everyone was fab, Tammy, one of the nurses on the ward who was assigned to my care, really went above and beyond and is an amazing nurse and has such a great way of interacting with people on a human level.

Dr Datsun and Dr Hawthorn are absolutely amazing and to know after years of immense suffering that all endometriosis has been removed from my body is a feeling that can’t be put into words. Whilst I know this will return at some point, to know I will get my life back is amazing.

Rosie is also such an asset to the NHS. Her knowledge on everything endometriosis related is astounding and she has been nothing but an invaluable support to me throughout this process. Alongside Rosie, Nikki has also been an unbelievable support during the hardest time in my life.

I had poor experiences elsewhere on my journey, but that’s in the past and the Endometriosis Centre, and in particular those mentioned above, have given me my life back and I will never be able to put into words how grateful and thankful I am to all of them.

The NHS gets a raw deal at times and there is a lot of negativity surrounding the health service, but I could not have had a better experience during what was a distressing and difficult time.

I’m looking forward to healing and moving forward with my life and it’s all thanks to those mentioned.

Dear C2587,

Thank you so much for taking the time to fill out a care opinion. The staff like to read they have made a difference to their patients journey.

I'm sorry to hear you have such extensive endometriosis, I do hope the surgery relieves your symptoms and gives you a better quality of day to day life. I will ensure our team of endometriosis specialists receive a copy of this to read.

Dr Datsun, Dr Hawthorn and Rosie are all very knowledgeable like you say and it's lovely for their hard work to be recognised.

I'm delighted that our ward 49 staff were exemplary and that you felt supported and well cared for during such a difficult time. Tami will be touched by your kind words.

Nikki will also be very grateful for your feedback, it really means a lot.

I'm glad your experience with ourselves has given you the opportunity to get your life back after years of suffering. Hopefully you don't have to experience the poor journey you had prior to us again.

Thank you once again for your lovely comments,

Wishing you a smooth and gentle recovery,

Best wishes

Dear C2587,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience of the Endometriosis Centre and Ward 49 at the Queen Elizabeth. Reading that, after years of immense suffering, you feel hopeful and able to look forward again is incredibly moving.

I’m thrilled to hear that the care you received felt exemplary. I will make sure your kind words are passed on to Tammy, Dr Datsun and Dr Hawthorn, and to Rosie—your feedback will mean a great deal to them and to the whole team.

I’m very touched by your mention of me personally—thank you. It’s a privilege to support you, and I’m delighted that your surgery has helped you feel like you’re getting your life back. Thank you for your post op updates! Wishing you a smooth recovery and every good wish as you heal and move forward.

With heartfelt thanks,

Nikki
