"Essential staff that are part time"

About: Hinchingbrooke Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

After being told I will have to wait 7 weeks for an MRI scan on a damaged knee, I find the reason is because the only Consultant to conduct Orthopaedic MRI Scans only works for 2 weeks a month and even when she does work she only has a few appointments per day. Fine for her but when I am not working, I am not earning and not entitled to any benefits. Why is an essential position like this only covered for less than 1/2 the year. In my opinion this is disgusting.

The initial consultant in Orthopaedics was brilliant, it is just this Part Time MRI Consultant that is the problem.

I am very sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with length of time it will take to have your MRI scan.

All our Radiologist are fully competent in all MRI scanning, and I am very sorry you received the above response from our team. We have also recently employed another Radiologist who has a speciality in Orthopaedic cases.

I would be very happy to discuss this with you.

Kind regards

Update posted by disappointment (the patient)

My complaint wasn't about the competency of your staff, it was the way resources were allocated. But I will be contacting you tomorrow to discuss if my appointment can be moved forward. I am also attending the doctors in the morning as I am unfit for work, due to the above, the DHSS have decided that I do not qualify for any benefits, on the verge of loosing my flat, so am going for some help. I am so depressed at the moment. silly me I thought that having a knee injury would actually be sorted pretty quickly, little did I know that it would take this long to actually get a diagnosis. But I will be contacting you tomorrow. Thank you for your response.
