I recently underwent surgery and radiotherapy as part of my breast cancer treatment, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the exceptional care I received throughout this journey. From my very first appointment with my surgeon Miss Campbell and breast nurse Jill they made me feel understood and supported, treating me not just as a patient, but as a person with hopes, fears, and unique needs - lots of holidays / trips away already booked 🤣. As cancer was not on my schedule for 2025!
The theatre team in Gartnavel theatres were all incredibly skilled and compassionate, my anaesthetist Dr McGrattan was outstanding, taking the time to explain every detail of the procedure, addressing my concerns patiently, and ensuring that I felt comfortable every step of the way. Their professionalism instilled me with confidence, and I truly felt I was in the best hands.
After surgery, the nursing staff went above and beyond to provide constant support, especially linda the nurse in recovery. They were always available to answer questions, manage pain, and offer encouragement, which made a significant difference in my recovery. Their warmth and empathy helped me feel so cared for.
Radiotherapy was another critical part of my treatment, and I was grateful for the seamless transition and coordination between my doctors. The radiotherapy team was approachable and provided clear explanations of what to expect, making me feel empowered in my treatment decisions.
Overall, my experience was marked by genuine kindness and professionalism. I can’t express how much the compassionate care I received has positively impacted my healing, both physically and emotionally. I am thankful for the dedicated team of professionals who made this unexpected journey manageable, and I am hopeful as I look forward to a healthier cancer free 2026.
The commitment to patient care that I have experienced from every member of NHS staff I have encountered during my time as a patient has been truly inspiring.
However, I do not have the words that seam fitting enough to express my thanks to Ms Campbell and Dr McGrattan.
