My husband recently finished a long course of input for swallow rehabilitation from Joanna at Speech Therapy at the Victoria infirmary. Whilst his recovery was not straightforward or simple, Joanna treated us with such empathy and understanding, dealing with tears and frustration as it became clear that returning to normal food and drinks again wouldn't be possible. She taught us about the swallow and used pictures to help us both understand, rather than being too medical . Her humour and spark lifted us both out of some difficult moments in this journey, and we looked forward to appointments. We will be forever thankful to her for her care.
"A credit to the profession"
