The department closes for lunch so there is no access to the waiting room (ie chairs). You’re told to arrive 10-15 mins before your appointment. Therefore those allocated the 1.30 slot have nowhere to sit once they arrive at the ultrasound department, just have to wait in the corridor.
For most people this standing wait is probably manageable, but I had HG and getting from the car, through the car park and then the internal walk within the hospital to the department for the scan was monumental effort. I ended up sitting on the floor in an alcove to be out of the corridor as I could not stand for any length of time. There is some seating available on the way so if I had known I would have made use of this but couldn’t face walking back to it at the time due to my severe lack of energy and also didn’t want to risk being late.
If I’d just been let know in advance that the department was physically closed, I could have made a different decision. Maybe something to add to the ultrasound info?
