"Excellent service, care and professionalism"

About: Cannock Chase Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

After receiving an admission date for knee surgery, I attended Cannock Hospital.  This was a day surgery case and I reported to Hollybank Ward at 07:00hrs for admission. The process was excellent, everything from admission to discharge.

Arriving on the ward I was asked to confirm some personal details prior to being directed to a small ward having 4 beds, very clean, private and comfortable.

All of the staff on Hollybank  Ward were lovely, caring and extremely professional.  I had multiple visits off nurses to make sure I was ok, a visit from the anaesthetist who explained exactly what was going to happen and finally a visit from my surgeon who again went into detail regarding my operation.  In the anaesthetic room prior to going into theatre the staff were fantastic and the environment very calming.

Next I find myself waking up after the General Anaesthetic in the recovery area.  Again the staff in this area were fantastic, professional and reassuring.  I was taken back to the ward where the remains of the anaesthetic was wearing off.  A cup of tea and a biscuit was offered and much appreciated.  Multiple visits by nurses and a visit by the Physiotherapist who provided crutches and a demo how to navigate steps, stairs etc.  A visit from my surgeon who told me how the operation had gone and exactly what was done during surgery.  I was provided pain relief medication to take home together with a discharge letter and a letter for my GP.  I had to be collected from the ward due to me earlier receiving a General Anaesthetic.

I can now say that my own experience of NHS Cannock Hospital, Hollybank Ward was faultless.  The staff members who I had the pleasure of meeting were without a doubt the reason why everything works super efficiently in this department.

Excellent service, care and professionalism was experienced at every stage of my journey.

Well done NHS, and a big thank you to all the great staff on Hollybank Ward that took care of me.
