"Sense make a real difference"

About: Ashley Court

(as a carer),

I previously posted here about the arduous but ultimately worthwhile process of transition https://www.patientopinion.org.uk/opinions/112362.

I wanted to give an update about Sense at Ashley Court, Rotherham which my severe learning difficulties stepdaughter attends every week day. Simply put the staff there are so thorough, professional and caring that it gives my wife and me huge confidence and comfort that she is definitely in the right place.

When we expressed concerns about her weight due to the medication she takes, the first thing they did was offer to put her on a low fat diet.

Today they called me to explain that her behaviour had been a bit challenging this afternoon. They had managed to calm her down and were confident that she was going home in a good mood. However their first thought was for us as carers to make sure we were aware of what had happened and they didn't want us to have any problems with her this evening.

They are also keeping a log of her behaviour to see if there are any patterns or situations that are causing her to play up. That way they hope to address the issues and make changes to how she spends her time if necessary. It's great to see people being so conscientious and thoughtful about the care they provide.

A huge well done to Anne and her great team.
