I have had 3 miscarriages at Ealing Hospital. 2 were natural, although very sad I cannot fault the sympathy and professional care of the EPU staff, sonographers, consultants. However I did meet very young male Drs in A&E who were patronising and acted as if I was silly/hysterical/not really pregnant. Both times, specifically young male Drs in A&E.
My 3rd loss was more complex. After an ERPC, my HCG didn't go down. I got 'told off' by a nurse "You can't just demand a blood test! " when referred. After this jnr doctors kept phoning me back and forth either brushing me off or seeming almost excited "it must be ectopic" and prepping me to have an unrequired operation (the symptoms and scans didn't match this). THNAKFULLY I got passed on to the EXCELLENT EPU/Gynie consultants. Again they were superb. Lucky I got them, as I had a rare problem (T69- suspected partial molar) which requires blood tracking at Charing Cross as there's a danger of cancer (thankfully I was OK after 2 months all clear). The EPU/Consultants then referred me to St Marys for recurrent miscarriage testing: a blood disorder was diagnosed and now I have treatment they are optimistic I can have a child by taking medication. Again due to the great gynie consultants and EPU staff.
"Great EPU but A&E Junior Drs too inexperienced"
