"Grateful and thankful"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Plastic Surgery & Burns (wards 45, 47, 48 & 49)

(as the patient),

This message is for the surgeons & nurses who looked after me over the past several weeks at the plastic surgery unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, wards 47/48.

I was diagnosed with a rare type of cancerous tumour, called Sarcoma on my stomach, and had to go in for two separate operations, over the course of October/November.

I would first like to say how grateful I am to the surgeons who spent 11.5 hours in theatre removing the tumour and putting me back together. It was some exceptional work done by all involved headed by the Proff. Thank you!

My second thank-you is to the team of day/night nurses (and support staff) who helped me through my recovery in hospital. My total stay was 20 days, and throughout my time the nurses on wards 47/48 showed nothing but kindness, professionalism, knowledge, empathy as well as knowing to make me laugh. Which all helped my recovery process.

I hope everyone involved gets to see how grateful and thankful I am, and that I wish them all the best.

Thank you for taking the time to give lovely feedback. It sounds like you have had major surgery yet have found the time to send a thank you - it is very much appreciated.

I will be sure to share this post with the teams who were involved in your care and wish you well in your recovery from surgery.

Kind regards

C Blake
