"Understanding, nurturing and supportive"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care

(as a service user),

I had my baby boy recently.

I had to be induced prior to this which brought about unexpected complications (from another condition which I didn’t previously know I had).

The midwives in particular were absolutely incredible - they were understanding, nurturing and supportive throughout the time I was in hospital. Ann, Nathalie and Katie were assigned to me at various times throughout my stay along with two student midwives who were excellent.

Although I had other complications which were anxiety provoking, these midwives made this experience so much better and I felt so supported throughout.

My baby was delivered safely through an emergency c-section and each of the midwives and doctors present helped me feel more relaxed in such a scary situation. I could tell they genuinely cared about me and my baby and wanted the best for both of us.

I was also supported by Caitlin (family support worker) who changed my breastfeeding journey and I feel that if it wasn’t for her support, I may not still be breastfeeding my little one. All of the staff are doing an amazing job and under so much pressure.

I want to thank all of the staff for such a good experience of labour and post natal care.
