"Elective Hip Joint Replacement"

About: Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Fracture Clinic Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My mum is in her late 80s and had a total hip joint replacement in ward K North Inverclyde Royal Hospital under the care of Mr Chappell.

Surgery had been delayed because of predisposing health issues which made her very high risk. During that time her hip pain had worsened and her quality of life had deteriorated. That is until she had the surgery which has turned that around.

From her assessment at the Orthopaedic clinic to her final discharge from the ward, the service and care she received were outstanding.

The clinic staff were kind and efficient and pre assessment staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was in place for the pending surgery.

Thanks to all staff involved including Mr Chappell's secretary. The ward staff, nurses, doctors, physios and OTs, domestics, catering staff and porters were so caring and helpful.

Special thanks to Mr Chappell and SCN in K North.

Physio follow up in the community has been invaluable and Mum is almost now without pain, mobilising well and so much happier in general.

Many thanks to all.
