By about 8.45am yesterday all access to appointments blocked… you can only use an online system and “computer says no”. It’s as uncaring and uncompassionate as it gets. I thought the idea of booking using the app was to stop the 8am rush and to provide another option…not so, it is impossible.
My husband had the same issue two or three weeks ago. I followed instructions on the app and I called 111 who sent me to Wharfedale/Otley for a walk in appointment 45 minute trip, 14 miles and £2.30 to park. Otley said I needed to see my GP and called them to request they gave me an appointment but said if things got worse to go to an A&E.
By the time I had driven home I was in tears and felt dreadful. It was noon by then a morning spent chasing a doctor and no progress. I waited for another hour for a call from a GP but nothing and pain worsening so went down to LGI who were very good.
My blood pressure however was sky high… hardly a surprise. However GP now needs to organise an ultra sound for me at LGI request, asap, and I went on app today to request this and had to cheat the system to explain what I needed without using the option where it isn’t looked at for days. I’d been so ill overnight on Sunday, so when I finally did sleep I didn’t wake until 8.30 yesterday hence missing the boat for an appointment … today I set my alarm for 6.30 just to get in the queue to ask for an ultrasound appointment… it was 10pm last night when I got home from LGI… I shouldn’t have to wake at 6.30am when ill to get a GP appointment.
