"The staff were lovely"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Outpatient Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I attended the outpatients department last week with my daughter and her auntie for a wound review of her finger after having surgery. The staff were lovely and was greeted with student nurse Kyle who immediately apologised for the wait and asked how our day was. I was a bit apprehensive but Kyle assured us and talked through each step as I was more worried than my daughter. He also talked away to us which distracted me from the situation and we both related on breaking our arms haha but I felt the need to leave this review as we all felt so taken care of.

We wish Kyle the best in his studies and career.

Also an extra thanks to Cara who reassured us my daughter’s finger was all healing well.

Hello starrw87

As the Senior Charge Nurse of the Outpatient Department. I would like to thank you for taking the time to write this lovely feedback. It’s wonderful to hear how Kyle immediately put you at ease, explained each step clearly, and even found a way to relate and distract you during what could have been a stressful visit. This really highlights the compassion and professionalism Kyle brings to his role, and we’re delighted to see him making such a positive impact during his training.

I also appreciate your kind words for Cara, who reassured you about your daughter’s healing progress. Feedback like this means so much to my team and helps us continue delivering the best possible care.

I will ensure that both Cara and Kyle are recognised are for their compassionate and professional nursing care.

We wish Kyle every success in his studies and future career, he’s clearly on the right path!

Kind Regards

Mhairi Stirrat
