"Transformed a frightening experience into one filled with hope and confidence"

About: Health Visiting Service / Health Visiting Ballymena

(as a service user),

Seven weeks ago, I welcomed my beautiful baby boy into the world. Like any new parent, I was filled with love and excitement. But by day three, everything suddenly felt overwhelming when I was told he had lost 13% of his birth weight. I was scared, exhausted, and questioning everything I was doing as a first-time mum trying to breastfeed. In that moment, I felt like I was failing him.

At first, I was supported by the Midwives, and when my care was handed over to the Health Visiting team, I met Anne Marie. She became exactly the light I needed during such a vulnerable time. From our very first interaction, she was nothing short of incredible. She didn’t just provide information—she offered understanding. She gave me guidance, reassurance, and the space to learn and regain my confidence.

Because of her unwavering support, I found the strength to continue breastfeeding, even when I doubted myself. Her encouragement and practical help made all the difference. With her guidance, my baby gained weight steadily, eventually surpassing his birth weight—something that filled me with relief, pride, and so much gratitude. She helped me trust my instincts and ensured my little boy received everything he needed to thrive.

Today, he is growing beautifully, full of life, and hitting all the milestones that once felt so far away. I know that Anne Marie played a truly meaningful role in that journey. I will always be grateful for the positive impact she had on both me and my baby. Her kindness, professionalism, and compassion transformed a frightening experience into one filled with hope and confidence. She is an incredible credit to her profession, and I cannot thank her enough!x
