"A wonderful ward full of wonderful human beings"

About: Causeway Hospital / Childrens Ward

(as a parent/guardian),

We arrived at Causeway Paeds after being sent straight from Dal Doc. I cannot explain the wonderful care we received from every single member of staff that we were in contact with.

Our 15mo old was presenting with flu like symptoms and needed urgent care. The care she received, but also us as parents, was second to none. It actually makes me emotional thinking about how total strangers can care so much for a baby they didn’t know.

The first nurse we encountered was Catherine, and she was absolutely amazing! Her care and warm personality set us straight at ease. She kept us informed about every little detail that was going on. She was later joined by Dr Ntassey and Megan, who were equally as incredible.

Dr Faraday was called in and we couldn’t have been in better hands. His warm, caring and humorous nature was so professional and it was so obvious to us he cared way beyond his remit. I was very emotional at this stage and his simple gesture of a hand on my shoulder to reassure me, highlighted to my husband and I that our little girl was in very capable hands.

The nurses on the ward -  Gail, Anna, Lauren, and student nurse Rachel -  also need recognition for their emotional and physical support that they gave us regularly throughout our stay. Dr Rachel then saw us on discharge and again, we couldn’t have been luckier to have had her input.

Thank you so much to each and every one of you who work in this ward. You helped make a very distressing time, a little easier. We hope you all get the recognition you deserve and we will forever be indebted to this wonderful ward full of wonderful human beings. Thank you!!

Dear Suzbk88, I am Peter Johnston and the lead nurse for children's nursing with responsibility for Children's Ward in Causeway Hospital.

I am of course very pleased to read of the experience of care that your daughter and your family have had with us. The mix of professional and personal care is at the core of what we try to give to all families that come to us. I will pass on your kind comments to the ward and those staff you have been able to name individually, I know that they will really appreciate the time you have taken to write in.

I hope all is now well with your daughter

thank you

peter
