I sadly miscarried in October and couldn’t have been more grateful for the treatment I received by the nurses in Ward 6. They were so kind and showed so much empathy the entire time.
However, 4 weeks later I have had a positive pregnancy test. I phoned early pregnancy and let them know as I felt that given the miscarriage was only 4 weeks ago they might want to scan me or check my hcg levels. I also hoped they would as I’m feeling so anxious and have been told by others that they were offered scans following recent miscarriage. However, I was told that they don’t allow early scans unless you are bleeding and it’s “maybe” a new pregnancy I’ll need to wait until I receive a 12 week scan to find out. I was completely shocked by this because if it is not a new pregnancy, I could have remaining tissue from my miscarriage which is extremely dangerous. Why don’t they want to rule this out?
I was told to go ahead and book my pregnancy if I wanted to be seen in a couple of months so this is what I did. When I spoke to the booking team I was told they wouldn't book me in due to an issue with the system, and to phone back in 2 weeks after taking another test. So I am being refused any early pregnancy care due to the faults of their online system? Not once did anyone I spoke to show any empathy or care for how I was feeling given that the miscarriage was so recent. I am full of anxiety, and if they are unable to scan me, I would have at least appreciated some reassurance.
Early pregnancy care appears to be non existent within Forth Valley unless you are actively miscarrying. They need to do better!
