I recently gave birth to my son on Labour Ward 31, and I want to share just how truly grateful I am for everyone who was involved in my care.
My birth experience wasn’t the easiest, especially after experiencing a postpartum haemorrhage, but the way the staff looked after me turned something frightening into an experience I can still hold onto with positivity. From the moment things became complicated, the team around me were calm, confident and incredibly compassionate. I felt safe because of them. They explained what was happening, reassured me at every step, and made sure I never felt alone or afraid. I honestly cannot thank them enough for that.
I spent four days in recovery afterwards and during that time I met so many amazing midwives. Every single one of them showed kindness, patience and such genuine care, not only for me but also for my little boy. They checked on me constantly, supported me physically and emotionally, and made me feel like my wellbeing truly mattered. Their warmth and encouragement helped me more than they will ever realise.
These people were honestly made for this job. Their dedication, their compassion and the way they go above and beyond is something really special.
The NHS is incredibly lucky to have a team like this, and I feel lucky that they were the ones caring for me and my son.
I will always remember the way they made a very difficult time so much easier, and I will always be grateful for everything they did for us.
"Reassured me at every step"
