"I wanted to acknowledge how great the team were"

I was referred to Musgrave Park Hospital (OTNS Service) regarding carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand. I met a Specialist Registered Nurse who explained my condition, the results of my nerve conduction tests, what surgery would involve, possible outcomes and risks. The information received was very clearly presented and in a very friendly manner. I found this very reassuring. I opted for surgery, which I subsequently had. 

On the morning of my appointment, I was very pleased to be told that my surgeon was the same person that I had my assessment appointment with. All the staff that I encountered that morning were very friendly and reassuring as well as professional. I was quite apprehensive about the surgery because of what post surgery might involve. However, the staff nurse admitting me for my procedure was really lovely as well as efficient, which greatly reduced my anxiety. Moreover the surgeon came to speak to me beforehand and addressed my concerns in a very friendly and practical manner. 

During the surgery, I was very impressed at the professionalism and patient reassurance as well as aseptic technique and double checking about allergies. I was offered the chance to see what was happening which I appreciated, but opted for chatting to one of the team which kept me calm.

After the procedure, I was shown the stitched wound before it was bandaged and was impressed at how neat and clean the wound looked. 

I was told what to expect post surgery in terms of potential bruising, pain and swelling and then given more details before discharge as well as a very informative leaflet entitled Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Home Programme, QR code for a video of the leaflet and a summary sheet including contact details if I had any concerns.

I am writing this story because I wanted to acknowledge how great the team were at Musgrave Park Hospital and how much I appreciated their patient care as well as the surgery and information.
