"Hospital care"

About: Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Patient care services Omagh Primary Care Complex / Cardiac Assessment Unit South West Acute Hospital / Emergency Care and Medicine Services

(as a relative),

My mum is in her 90s and recently had an episode of chest pain. I brought her to the cardiac assessment unit in Omagh hospital. The care and compassion that she received was outstanding. Everyone was so polite and caring. Particular thanks to Stacey, Sandra and Monica who looked after her in CAU.

Her condition was assessed quickly, relevant blood tests performed and a chest X-ray was taken. Her condition was discussed with a consultant who viewed the chest X-ray and recommended another blood test. This resulted in her requiring to be transferred by ambulance to SWAH. The ambulance staff were also very kind and considerate in their treatment of mum.

Mum was given a bed in ED in SWAH, was settled in a quiet area, provided with extra blankets and the night staff made her comfortable. Particular thanks to Janine and Shauna who looked after her during the day. Support staff were also very kind providing regular tea and biscuits.

Even though ED was busy mum received excellent care.
