I recently spoke to the GP about concerns regarding my mum’s memory and cognition, which led to a referral to the Coombe Memory Assessment Unit. She was initially very reluctant to attend and worried about what might be found, but the experience turned out to be so positive. The nurse, was absolutely amazing—he put her completely at ease and made the whole process feel comfortable and even enjoyable. She described it as feeling more like a quiz than an assessment, which really helped her relax.
I honestly cannot fault the service; The nurse was impeccable and knew exactly how to manage her, even though she can sometimes be challenging. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming, and the building was easy to find. At the moment, we’re waiting for a referral for a scan, and I’m not entirely sure what the next steps will be, but I just wanted to express how grateful I am. I cannot thank the nurse and the team enough for the outstanding care and support they provided.
