My husband who has pancreatic cancer took very sick with sepsis. He collapsed at home and from the 999 call I made until he was discharged over a week later we received absolutely amazing treatment.
From the 999 controller, ambulance crew, doctors and nurses in the Ulster Hospital Belfast who treated him in the emergency department and ward 3E/3F nursing staff and doctors - all played a significant role in saving my husband’s life.
I’d like to thank all of the staff we came into contact with, particularly Dr McKinney and all the nurses, including Helen in the emergency dept who played a major part in my husband still being here. All the other Doctors who treated him throughout his stay ensuring they found the right treatment to make him better.
When my husband was stabilised we were moved to ward 3E/3F where we had the most amazing nurses and doctors looking after us. Ronda and her team in this ward couldn’t possibly have done anymore to make our stay more comfortable. Not only did they look after my husband's medical needs but I was always made to feel nothing was too much trouble for them which was incredibly reassuring when you’re going through an extremely traumatic experience.
