"Made a horrible situation a little bit brighter"

About: Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Borthwick Ward Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Occupational Therapy Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Physiotherapy Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Play Services

(as a parent/guardian),

When our son was 9 months old we spent a number of weeks on Borthwick ward following time in intensive care.

The entire team were amazing with him and we can't thank them all enough. From the Drs and nurses to the play therapist, physio and occupational therapy, everyone was great not just with our son but with us too.

He was looked after so well and spoiled with attention and especially loved his early morning parties with the night shift team.

The respect and care that the nursing team show towards all of their patients is incredible.

A children's ward is not somewhere you ever hope to find yourself but the team at Borthwick made a horrible situation a little bit brighter.

Dear Emma2118,

Thank you for writing about your son's recent admission to Borthwick Ward.

It is really heartwarming to hear of your positive experience with all of our staff, and how you felt supported by the whole multi disciplinary team.

We strive as a team to make children and families experience as positive as it can be, and so it is great to hear that we made your experience a little bit brighter.

I have shared your feedback with the team. It is very rewarding to hear lovely feedback about the care we give.

I do hope your son is doing well after discharge, and thank you once again for sharing your story.

Kind regards

Jilly
