This was initially identified following a routine mammogram in late July this year.
Subsequently I was referred to the breast cancer unit at Ninewells Hospital Dundee in early October. A further mammogram was done and biopsies were taken. These revealed a small lump in my right breast. This was explained to me by Mr Vinci, the specialist breast consultant, who also explained to me the surgical options available to me. I had a lumpectomy, during which biopsies were also taken of my lymph nodes. The procedure was undertaken by Mr Vinci at Perth Royal Infirmary.
I met with Mr Vinci to review the pathology results. The outcome is that the cancer has now been removed with clear margins and there are no adverse indications in my lymph nodes. This is a huge relief to me and I can only thank the teams at Ninewells and Perth and Mr Vinci in particular for their professional expertise and their kind and thoughtful consideration and sensitive care.
