I had been having chest & ribcage pain since Sunday evening that escalated in the early hours of Wednesday morning. After going to A&E in Bolton and having initial tests, I was swiftly transferred to Manchester Royal Infirmary.
The ward I was admitted to, the nurses took great care of me, and were understanding of the worries I had. I'd never been admitted to Hospital and my first time being due to a potential heart issue, really put me into an uncomfortable spot.
The consultant came around within a few hours and based on the ECG results + how my symptoms we're alleviating with the pain relief, diagnosed me with pericarditis. I was informed that if all my blood tests came back fine, I would be discharged in the evening, which I was at 22:00.
I do want to take the time to thank the doctors & nurses at Bolton A&E. I didn't get their names, but, they saw me very quickly, did the ECG tests on me swiftly, and immediately put into place the ambulance transfer. The ambulance crew who transferred me from Bolton to Manchester were kind and understanding throughout.
And, to all the nurses in Manchester Royal Infirmary on the Acute Cardiac Centre. Especially Niamh and Jess who provided round the clock care for me, especially when I was having a lot of pain spikes. They were kind throughout my time there and helped me feel settled.
"Kind and understanding staff"
