"Clinic waiting time"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Ultrasound Scan (Maternity)

(as the patient),

I arrived at the hospital for my pregnancy ultrasound appointment followed by a follow up in the clinic. I was contacted by the hospital to reschedule the time of my appointment, which I agreed to despite prior working commitments that I changed to attend the appointment.

I arrived 5 minutes before my appointment time, and was done but 10.10 and headed to the clinic for my 10.15am appointment It's currently 11.48am, nearly 2 hours since arriving at the hospital and I still have yet to see a doctor. When I asked if it would be much longer I was told clinic is always late and they would get to me when they had a chance despite having a pre-scheduled appointment. The waiting times are a disgrace and if I the patient was over an hour late I would be turned away.

Things need to be re-evaluated! My time has been wasted and I've had to cancel work meetings due to the length of time sitting waiting.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I am truly sorry to hear about the delay you encountered during your recent visit for your ultrasound and clinic appointment. We understand how valuable your time is and appreciate the effort you made to rearrange your commitments to attend.

It is unacceptable that you were left waiting for such a long period without clear communication, and I completely understand your frustration. While clinics can sometimes run behind due to unforeseen clinical needs, this should have been explained to you in a more considerate and transparent manner. Your feedback highlights an area we need to improve, and I assure you that we will review our processes to minimise waiting times and ensure patients are kept informed.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. Your comments will be shared with the relevant team so that we can learn from this and make changes to improve the experience for all patients.

If you would like to discuss this further, please contact on the email address below.

Kindest Regards,

Laura Flynn
