Planned hip operation. I was invited to an Educational afternoon. This explained every thing that was likely to happen. I was allowed to ask as many questions as I wanted. Then given a chance to look at and handle the replacement part that mostly likely would be used. So not only informative but very interesting. I was then given a pair of crutches, the right size for me and told to go home and practice. Pre Op bloods etc... given a telephone number to ring for anything I was worried about or just needed to know.
Everything explained to me on the day what was going to happen. All went well.
I have a new hip and no pain from that hip!.
The best thing was the educational afternoon. It was very re assuring....let me know what to expect. If I had not gone to this, I felt that some physio might not have happened.....I was the last one that afternoon in theatre, I had not been forgotten, but I had not been identified as needing help. So because of the afternoon I attended, I knew to ask.
Cannock Hospital you are very very good. Thank you for you care.
