I received breast surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy through Gartnavel General Hospital (surgery), New Victoria Clinic P (chemotherapy, oncology reviews) and the Beatson (radiotherapy).
My surgeon and surgical breast nurse at GGH were amazing and went to great lengths to overcome potential delays to my treatment and care. They were so kind and reassuring and I felt completely at ease discussing my worries and asking questions. The surgeon, Jennifer, was a wonderfully compassionate and personable individual and I can't thank her enough.
My oncologist at NVH clinic E has been attentive and kind throughout my treatment and understood my concerns, endeavouring to address them at every turn.
The nurses and team at NVH clinic P who have managed my chemotherapy administration were always completely rushed off their feet (they never seemed to stop), and working so very hard in what seemed like overstretched services. I always felt well looked after and they certainly made the effort to make conversation and show compassion, but I felt awful for their daily workload.
Radiotherapy at the Beatson was managed by different specialist radiographers each day who were friendly but you were often in and out faster than any conversation could take place (not complaining, it was nice to get it over with!). They did a great job of trying to keep everyone moving through the radiotherapy treatment rooms and keeping to the schedule or ahead of schedule considering the wide variety of patients attending and the short time slots for each.
