"Put home at midnight -2 degrees c because no beds"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gastroenterology (Stomach and Gut)

(as a carer),

My very ill husband was put out of hospital at midnight after GPs admitted him for 8th time! Suspected gallstones blocking bile duct or duodenum, liver markers, pancreas & infection markers constantly spiking, severe abdomen pain, constant vomiting, severe weight loss for last 6 months. But was told literally no beds, you have to go home. How close to death does someone have to be before getting treatment?! I am fuming! We had a 2 year old in bed, 2 hours away from hospital, -2°c outside, frosty icy roads, no one to watch baby & had to go pick him up! Absolutely gobsmacked! My husband knows pain, Crohns disease for 10+ years, numerous other operations, he will avoid hospital whenever he can until it is absolutely necessary, GPs have put him in with letters to confirm he needs emergency treatment right away, but put home every time, why? Just absolutely unbelievable!!
