"They always provide the highest standard of care"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Accidents & Emergency Antrim Area Hospital / Dietetic Services Antrim Area Hospital / Emergency Surgical Unit (EMSU) Antrim Area Hospital / Intensive Care Unit Antrim Area Hospital / Ward C3 Female Surgical Cancer Nurse Specialist / Cancer Nurse Specilaist HPB

(as the patient),

I arrived initially in C3-EMSU on 15/6/25 with pancreatitis and have returned on a few occasions since then . My last visit ended towards the end of Nov 2025. Every time I go back it's like going to see family and what a lovely family they are.

C3-EMSU is what nursing care is all about. The staff here continually work in a highly stressful constantly changing environment, but they always provide the highest standard of care to every patient.

I personally couldn't have asked for a more dedicated team to have taken care of me day and night over the past 5 months - Ward sisters Nuala, Anne, Ciera, Ruth, Kathy and Tanya from Critical Care, Gerry and Karen, deputy sisters, staff nurses, healthcare assistants, student nurses and agency staff. Each of you are so very special and your support, compassion, kindness and humour will always be remembered by myself and my family.

Thank you also to my surgeon Mr Gudyma and his team involved in my pre-op and post-op care, to Mr Ashraf and all of my consultants, the registrar's, FY2's, FY'1s, student doctors, the HPB team in Belfast and those who looked after me in the AEC department. Your understanding, professionalism, empathy and words of encouragement were greatly appreciated.

Last but by no means least, I also want to thank Stephen, Jim and all the porters, I couldn't have asked for a better taxi service. James and Katie my Dieticians for all of their support, Holly, Grace and pharmacy students for their advice, Magda and Sadie our lovely plebotomists.

To everyone in support services who were always bringing food, cleaning and for always being helpful. Deacon Rooney for all your prayers which were invaluable.
