I was admitted unexpectedly to the antenatal inpatient ward as there was a potential that I was going into preterm labour at 29 weeks. The professionalism of the staff who initially had to admit me from the assessment unit was outstanding. They comforted me and answered all my questions whilst I tried to process what was happening.
I was in hospital for 4 days in total. In this time I came across so many members of staff/shift changes. No matter their job role and big or small input into my care, everyone was outstanding - from the midwifes themselves, to the doctors, cleaners, support assistances, dining staff. The level of support and reassurance they all gave me will never be forgotten. They answered all my questions and if they didn’t know the answer they promptly found someone who did. I can’t thank them enough for their care.
I also would like to add that the last time I was on this ward was with my first baby during Covid. I would like to commend the maternity unit for all the changes they have made since I was last there (obviously very different times). I would like to feedback as a patient that the way the visiting is set up and also the meals are set up with open times to eat makes it feel like a much more homely environment - keep up the good work everyone.
