"Treated with professionalism but also compassion"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Patient Transport Service University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiac Catherterisation University Hospital Monklands / Cardiology/Coronary Care Unit (Ward 18)

(as a relative),

My husband wasn’t feeling too great and didn’t want me to phone the Doctor. I did and was told to take him to the casualty department within Monklands university hospital in Airdrie.  When arriving he was taken practically straight away and after a short period of time we were allowed to see him.

It turned out that he had suffered a heart attack, it was explained to us that there were two types of heart attack, one could be treated with medication and observation the other needed treatment immediately.  My husband, daughter and i were treated with professionalism but also compassion.

My husband was then Blue lighted to Hairmyres hospital.  The doctor explained there was no need for us to try and follow the ambulance as he would be immediately taken unto the cath ward and we wouldn’t get to see him until they had identified what they were dealing with.

I cannot praise   Everyone highly enough.  On. Arriving at Hairmyres again we were treated with compassion and efficiency with everything explained to us.

My husband was then ,the following day,  transferred back to monklands

And admitted to the cardiology ward.  Again I was blown away with the care and treatment he received from the cleaners right through to the Dr Pell his cardiologist.

We were also introduced to Lynne from the rehab team who explained everything in detail and the after care and what to expect when he is discharged.

My husband had to return to Hairmyres for another procedure and again everything was explained and we were all treated with respect .

I cannot praise all the care and treatment my husband received and I will be eternally grateful for this.

I should also add the paramedics who transported him between monklands hospital and Hairmyres were also fantastic making my husband comfortable and at ease.
