"Fistula Removal"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

In July I attended Wishaw General hospital to have a fistula removed. I was put to sleep for this procedure but when I was woken I was told they had to put a seton suture in place to drain the fistula. I was told I would have a follow up appointment after 6 weeks and they would discuss removal of seton at this app. I have yet to see anyone as my appointments keep getting cancelled for reasons I do not know. This is causing a strain in my daily living as I'm having to attend wound care every week in my doctors surgery because I'm in so much pain with said seton suture. I think the care I have received is terrible!!

Dear Patnt97,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am very sorry to hear about the difficulties you have faced following your procedure and the impact this has had on your daily life. This is certainly not the standard of care we aim to provide, and I understand how frustrating and painful this situation must be for you.

I appreciate you highlighting the repeated cancellations and lack of communication regarding your follow-up appointment. If you would like us to look into your case in more detail, please contact our Patient Affairs team. They will be able to assist you further and help arrange the necessary follow-up.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve our services.

Best regards,
Tracey Buchanan
