"We could not have asked for more"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

We, as a family, sadly had to attend A&E with mum after she tripped and fell at my home, injuring her shoulder. I was very apprehensive as I have heard about extremely long waits etc- unfortunately, mum fainted with the pain in the waiting room so she was taken straight to the RESUS area to be seen.

What followed I can only describe as amazing. Mum was assessed quickly and sent for Xrays which showed a dislocated shoulder and other bruising. The nurse looking after mum was extremely caring towards mum and kept us all up to date with what was happening. Mum had pain relief given promptly and the nurse and her student made sure she was comfortable at all times- I could see that they were extremely busy with other patients but nothing was a bother.

Mum was seen by Mr Rossi from Orthopaedics and her shoulder was put back in place under sedation- again, we were kept up to date at all times. Eventually, mum was okay to go home and nurse Katherine and her student Cara helped mum get organised and both helped us out to the car and settled mum in comfortably. Mum couldn't thank them enough for their care. I'm glad to say that she's healing well and celebrated her 90th birthday last week

The public seem to have a negative perception of A&E but we can honestly say that every person we came into contact with was extremely attentive and we could not have asked for more.

Thanks from the whole family to Katherine, Cara, Mr Rossi and everyone who helped us that night.

Dear Librare75,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. I’m truly sorry to hear about your mum’s fall, but I’m delighted that she received the care and attention she needed so promptly.

Your words about Katherine, Cara, Mr Rossi, and the wider team mean a great deal. They work incredibly hard to provide compassionate, high-quality care, and feedback like yours reminds us why we do what we do. I will make sure your comments are passed on to everyone involved—they will be thrilled to know they made such a positive difference during a stressful time for your family.

It’s wonderful to hear that your mum is recovering well and was able to celebrate her 90th birthday—that’s a fantastic milestone! Please pass on our best wishes to her.

Thank you again for sharing such thoughtful feedback.

Best Wishes,

Julie.
