"Orthopaedic appointment"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Orthopaedics (Bones, Joints and Fractures)

(as a relative),

My wife has been waiting for more than 18 months for orthopaedic appointment. We live in Aberdeen, 5 mins from Aberdeen royal infirmary but she received now an appointment in Elgin. She is pregnant and carer for 2 years old son and I work full time, so going down to Elgin is impossible. We called the number provided and we said we are happy to wait a bit longer as won't be able to travel to Elgin, but they said it is a policy and we can decline this appointment but will put us back to wait for another appointment but it may still be in Elgin again. It is disappointing!

Hi Waga, the Access Policy for Grampian NHS Healthboard states that patients can be offered appointments anywhere within Grampian. This allows us to best utilise all of the available capacity within the Healthboard and makes sure that patients are seen in date order and it is not dependant on where you live.
