"Thorough, professional and compassionate"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Medical Assessment Unit (Alexandra Ward)

(as the patient),

I came into the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) department with a sore leg and no understanding of why.

They were amazing - scanning for a DVT which was confirmed. Then, being conscientious, they requested a chest Xray to see there was nothing else to worry about - and this showed a Pulmonary Embulism (PE).

They also did an ECG to check my heart. They were thorough and professional but still went out of their way to be compassionate. I was regularly offered food and a cuppa. The lead nurse even went out of his way to get me a vegetarian sandwich. Five stars out of five - thank you, team xx
