"Truly amazing"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Western Isles Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a carer),

Phoned NHS on a Sunday morning as my son had been unwell with a high fever and sickness, we waited about 20 minutes to speak to somebody, but when we did, we were promptly put through to a call  handler who assessed the situation and afterwards we spoke to a nurse.

Within 10 minutes we got a call to go to the Western isles hospital, where we were met by  Nurse Adam, and Dr Aoife ,they promptly checked my son  over and did some bloods and a swab up the nose. It turned out he had influenza. 

From phoning to being seen ,and back home again Thank You NHS you are truly Amazing ❤️

I was sorry to learn you had cause to contact 111 on behalf of your son when he was feeling so unwell, I hope he is now feeling much better.

I am pleased to read of your positive experience from your initial call to the 111 service to your son's appointment at the Western Isles Hospital. We always like to ensure that staff see positive feedback to reinforce for them how valued their care is when people call our services. I also note the wait time experienced to access the 111 service, please accept my apologies for this. Unfortunately, due to the demand on our service there are occasions when wait times can be extended, however this is not the experience we wish for our callers and we are working hard trying to reduce this as much as possible.
