"I felt listened to by all of the midwives"

About: Maternity Care / Labour Ward Maternity Care / Postnatal (Ward 22)

(as the patient),

I was in Wishaw Hospital to give birth to our daughter. We were initially at a different hospital for our antenatal care however due to not being happy with the care I was receiving I changed to Wishaw at 38 weeks pregnant. All of my appointments were amazing, I finally felt listened to by all of the midwives.

When it came to labour every single midwife I was in contact with made me feel at ease. More specifically Rachel, Karen, Ellie and Connie were outstanding. From first getting there to be induced until we were discharged I did not feel like I was a bother to anyone and all staff went above and beyond to make sure I was as comfortable as I could be whilst also supporting my partner through a traumatic birth.

I would definitely recommend Wishaw for any pregnant lady as I could not fault the care! Karen went above and beyond and even checked in on us the day after to make sure we were all ok as she had finished her shift by the time I gave birth. Our nightshift midwife Ellie was so supportive and we learnt afterwards that she was newly qualified, I would never have been able to guess as she was amazing at what she does and it felt like she had been a midwife for years. Connie looked after us whilst we were in the post natal ward and always made sure we were kept in the loop regarding what was happening and no question was ever too silly to ask her.
