"Prompt care for mum"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / GP Out of Hours Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Palliative Care

(as a relative),

I recently had to call the palliative care line for the first time for my mum. She has lung cancer however has kept well up until recently. My mum was unwell, in a lot of pain and finding it hard to catch a breath.

I called the Palliative care line thinking this would be quicker than calling 111. Community Staff Nurse Fiona called me back within a couple of minutes, she was so kind, caring and compassionate, asking how mum was and took an in depth history from her over the phone.

Fiona I believe passed this information on to the out of hours clinician who seen mum and organised antibiotics for her. This is an amazing service and can't believe how promptly my mum was seen this night, especially with it being a Friday night. My mum said the staff were all lovely and she really felt listened to and heard.

My family would especially like to thank Fiona for all her help this night, it really made a big difference calling the palliative care line and having someone truly take the time to listen. Thank you.
