We all critique the NHS and often individuals within it in a negative fashion; I am as guilty as the next person. However we’re all slow at praising exceptional service and support when given and I want to rectify that here.
Following on from my chronic Achilles tendon rupture and a lack of diagnosis in one of the hospitals, I eventually got to be referred to an orthopaedic surgeon (Mr Atiya). I made contact with his secretary, Natalie, to get an appointment sorted out plus other insurance issues needing signatures.
Natalie was outstanding, she took ownership of the issues, kept me fully informed and resolved everything in a timely manner. Her manner was exemplary, empathetic whilst authoritative and the main thing was she took ownership and didn’t let go until the issues were resolved fully.
I am only some 6 weeks into what will be a lengthy recovery but the manner, approach and again ownership with care exhibited by Mr Atiya has been outstanding. Frankly it has only been their exemplary actions that has deterred me from a formal complaint regarding the lack of diagnosis.
But it is Natalie who has displayed the highest of personal and professional standards so often missing in public services. Please recognise her in any rewards or awards schemes that you may have.
