I have a phobia against hypodermic needles, this is totally irrational but I can’t get past it. I have over the years come to learn techniques that help such as calm breathing, singing in my head and just allow myself to cry if I want to as this releases some of the anxiety.
I have just had a blood test at Pitlochry Community Hospital and the nurse couldn’t have been calmer, more professional and more importantly kinder to me. I explained the situation and I was in the chair, blood taken before I even knew it. We had a lovely chat and in a very matter of fact way without letting me see any of the equipment it was all over.
Thank you for making me feel heard, taking me seriously and making the experience as stress free as possible.
