"Compassionate care"

About: Borders Community Services / Hospital to home service Borders General Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics (Ward 9)

(as a relative),

My mum was discharged from BGH in September following a fall and subsequent partial hip replacement. She received compassionate care on the ward from all staff including the anaesthetist who visited to apologise her operation was delayed.

She’s 83 and so we were all concerned about how she and my dad (87) would manage at home. Prior to her fall they were out and about most days and having a very active life.

They both really benefitted from visits from her physio Duncan and his phone calls to keep in touch. They were always so pleased to see him and whenever he visited he gave mum such positive feedback on progress and advice, hints and tips for her recovery. They’re full of praise for him.

She’s now driving and getting out and about which is brilliant as my dad doesn’t drive. They’re back being independent and looking forward to Christmas with the family.

Thanks to everyone involved.

Hi

Many thanks for taking the time to leave such kind feedback. I will pass your feedback on to all staff within the ward. I am pleased to hear your mum is on the mend and getting out and about independently again. This is great news

I hope you all have a lovely family christmas together.

Kind Regards

Leanne Carruthers
