I was in hospital for a tonsillectomy 2 weeks ago. I'm not going to lie - the recovery has been brutal, but the surgery and care received in hospital was top notch! Getting booked in for day surgery was a very smooth process and the nurses in pre assessment were very kind.
I was under the care of Mr Pelekoudas the ENT consultant and he was excellent throughout. He came to check on me twice before discharge and made sure I was aware of what to expect. My anaesthetist David was excellent, he put me at ease with kindness and humour. The nurses and health care support workers in recovery and day surgery, were very responsive and caring, especially Kat who was looking after me.
I was very sick after the operation and Kat gave me the option to stay overnight if I had wanted to. Considering how full and pressured the whole system is I was never made to feel rushed or a burden. It felt like a private hospital stay. Gold standard patient care. Thank you to all.
