I was diagnosed with epilepsy over 10 years ago, and around the same time, I began experiencing hearing loss. Managing both hasn’t always been easy, and recently I noticed my hearing getting worse. So, I reached out to the Audiology department, and they suggested I come to their walk-in session at 8 a.m.
I arrived early—7:30—because I was feeling quite anxious and really hoping for a good outcome. When I got there, the lights were still off, but shortly after, Anna, the head of Audiology, walked in and kindly asked if I was okay. I explained my situation, and she immediately offered to help, even before the clinic officially opened.
Within minutes, she whisked me into a room and was absolutely amazing! She reassured me that my hearing hadn’t changed much—it was my hearing aids that needed attention. She upgraded them, did a quick hearing test, and booked a follow-up appointment for the next week. By 8 a.m., I was walking out with a huge smile and tears in my eyes because I could hear conversations around me so clearly—it felt like having 20/20 hearing again! That moment truly changed my life.
Anna went above and beyond when she could have simply booked me in for later. Her kindness and professionalism left me deeply grateful and full of respect. I would be honoured to work for someone like her—so caring and considerate.
At my follow-up, the entire team was just as incredible. I arrived early with my father for his physio appointment and x-ray, and they saw me ahead of schedule. The audiologist explained everything thoroughly, even why tinnitus happens, and assured me that Audiology is always there if I need help. When I mentioned how amazing Anna was, he smiled and said - Yeah, that’s my boss—she’s great. Hearing that pride spoke volumes about their team spirit.
I also explained my father’s situation, and they immediately agreed to help him too due to only having 1 functioning ear. He now has a referral from his GP, and I’m hopeful he’ll experience the same life-changing support I did.
To Anna and the entire Audiology team—including those behind the scenes—thank you! Your dedication and compassion make a world of difference. Keep up the fantastic work—you are truly appreciated.
