"A local anaesthetic operation"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

It was all wonderful until one of the nurses, for some reason, decided my husband was pressuring me to leave the hospital early for his own convenience. I have no idea why the nurse came to that conclusion - the very idea of someone thinking my lovely husband is controlling in any way was more distressing to me than the operation itself. I still feel upset by it. It was such a shock. In reality I just wanted to leave the hospital asap so I could get home before the numbness wore off, because otherwise it'd be painful sitting in the car! In my view the nurse was far too sensitive to potential control issues, and it still makes me feel really upset that I could so easily be misunderstood.

I am so very sorry that this happened to ruin what was, up until that point a very good experience. I completely understand and can only apologise that this situation was very upsetting for both you and your husband. I will certainly remind staff to be more aware and to try and ensure this does not happen in the future. Again, my apologies for any unintentional upset caused.
